Wild Embers Story
Wild Embers CIC was founded in 2017 by Richard Scofield after completing a year-long course with Dartington's School for Social Entrepreneurs. With over 18 years of experience working across various care settings - including retirement homes, supported living, and with individuals facing learning, mental health, and physical challenges - Richard envisioned a project focused on helping vulnerable children. Since settling in Devon, he has worked primarily with children and young people facing challenges ranging from severe behavioural issues to high levels of social anxiety.

In 2020, Mel Triggs joined the Wild Embers team to assist Richard in the delivery of SEND days, forest school, home education and family days. She went on to become an integral part of the leadership team at Wild Embers. Mel's a qualified Therapeutic Forest School Leader, and her expertise enabled Wild Embers to reach and support more children, young people and their families living in South Devon.

The mission of Wild Embers is to provide specialist support to children, young people and families with SEND (Specialist Education Needs & Disabilities), and SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health) difficulties in South Devon, through its alternative provision and community projects.
